My latest activity for December 2025

(Previous Month) November 2025 <- - -> (Next Month) January 2026

Score---- Category--- Box Art Name Initial Thoughts
8.801 Anime Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?) Zoku-hen (2025) / There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... (Sequel) (2025) (2025/12/31): The good ending.
7.511 Anime Undead Unluck (2025) (2025/12/29):This was less like a stand alone special and more like a promotional episode to generate hype for season 2.
8.02 Anime Undead Unluck (2023) (2025/12/28):One of the funnest shows I have watched in a while. Every aspect is completely absurd, which is a positive for the most part.
5.2 Anime Shuumatsu Touring (2025) / Touring After the Apocalypse (2025) (2025/12/27): Anime as wallpaper.
7.45 Anime Tensei Akujo no Kuro Rekishi (2025) / The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess (2025) (2025/12/26):Finally the proper shoujo trash that I have been craving. Yeah this show is a checklist of tropes for those Otome villainess shows, but the pacing is good and it never gets boring. This one is decent to good.
6.35 Anime Chichi wa Eiyuu, Haha wa Seirei, Musume no Watashi wa Tenseisha. (2025) / Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I'm a Reincarnator (2025) (2025/12/24): This show is kind of cheap and generic, but it’s inoffensive. I honestly forgot that this was an isekai until I reread the title. This one is more about palace drama than magic or fighting. Overall just very forgettable
6.7 Anime Ansatsusha de Aru Ore no Status ga Yuusha yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi no da ga (2025) / My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's (2025) (2025/12/23): Started out with a fresh and interesting premise, quickly fell into some boring shit with a side character backstory that I don't give a fuck about. Pacing got really bad. The moral dilemma makes no sense, "oh no I am an assassin and my job is to kill people, and I got a job to kill the evilest most killable man, what will I do????"
7.62 Anime Kikaijikake no Marie (2025) / Mechanical Marie (2025) (2025/12/23): This show is just a Royal academy romance with a slightly interesting and unique gimmick. The pacing slows down a bit too much after the beginning, which is a stunning problem to have in a 12 episode series. They had the balls to do an actual satisfying resolution and that bumps this show up a little bit.
8.499 Anime Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai (2019) / Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (2019) (2025/12/22): This is not a standalone movie, but it perfectly concludes season 1. If you didn't cry to this movie at least 7 times then you may be gay, I don't know any other way to put it.
7.27 Anime Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! (2025) / A Wild Last Boss Appeared! (2025) (2025/12/21): This had such an interesting and unique premise that was ruined by some of the worst pacing issues that I’ve seen in a while. Half of the episodes in this felt like filler and in a series that's only 12 episodes long that is a problem. Hopefully season 2 is not as terribly paced.
8.01 Anime Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Oota-kun (2025) / Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota (2025) (2025/12/20): This is a romance show that has heart. The only real downside is that it pretty much ends where it started, with no development in between. A shame because everything else about this show was pretty charming.
7.24 Anime Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai shitemo Yoroshii deshou ka (2025) / May I Ask for One Final Thing? (2025) (2025/12/19): Battle shoujo, and a decent one at that. Takes an unexpected turn in the middle.
9.71 Music No Love Deep Web (2012) - Death Grips (2025/12/19): The first album of their golden 3. Probably the closest to a traditional hip hop release that they have come. I would describe the sound and lyrics of this album as apocalyptic and industrial.
7.92 Anime Potion, Wagami wo Tasukeru (2025) / I Saved Myself with a Potion!: Life in Another World (2025) (2025/12/18): Technically incompetent, but unique execution. It reminds me of those low budget fairy anime from the early 2000s. They scaled the footage incorrectly, there is aliasing on the 1080p release, that's such a basic thing to fuck up. Despite all of that, the amateurish nature at least has some charm to it.
8.26 Anime Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai (2018) / Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (2018) (2025/12/17): A good character drama with occasional supernatural shenanigans.
6.31 Anime Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation: Episode of Heartslabyul (2025) (2025/12/17): disney making isekais now wtf. This was pretty generic and forgetable, even for an isekai. If mickey mouse showed up I would have bumped this up 2 points.
8.242 Anime Alma-chan wa Kazoku ni Naritai (2025) / Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! (2025) (2025/12/16): Competent comedy, romance and slice of life. It's very rare that a show hits even one of these correctly.
7.8 Music Stardust (2025) - Danny Brown (2025/12/16): Danny Brown makes a hyperpop album. I love the usage of flamboyant instrumentals and backing vocals atypical to rap, he goes from rapping over an Elton John sounding instrumental to rapping over this bizarre IDM track before turning into a house track. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, this release has a couple of dud tracks. I liked the more personal tracks towards the end.
8.3 Music Opiate (1992) - Tool (2025/12/15): Although edgier than their later work, it is less dark over all than those later releases. This is the most 90s and alternative of their releases, this almost sounds like a primus album with the song hush. The strengths on this album are the production, even the live tracks sound great. Their song writing is like 66% of the way there, they are all still good tracks though.
9.49 Music The Money Store (2012) - Death Grips (2025/12/14): Just from the first 2 songs alone you could tell they had found their sound. Depressive, irate, introspective. If you like mostly metal or other abrasive sounding music, then give this album a chance.
6.42 Music On Avery Island (1996) - Neutral Milk Hotel (2025/12/14): I get the impression while listening to this that they were making the album they wanted to make, and didn't even consider what you though about that, so for that it gets points. This release blends a lot of influences, New Orleans Big Band, Rock, Blues, Country, Folk, Punk, and it sounds like the band members were genuine fans of these styles and genres. This release is a lot less refined and polished than the one they would become primarily known for, but it mostly works for what they were going for. The one thing that I think drags this release down quite a bit is the lack of song structure, conventional or otherwise. There are tons of beautiful harmonies, melodies and sounds found throughout this release, but they don't really connect to any broader point or expression, leading this release to be simply ok. That said, track 10, Naomi, is a really good track.
9.81 Music Sunbather (2013) - Deafheaven (2025/12/13): The saddest songs are written in major keys. Even if you think you don't like metal, you owe it to yourself to check out this album. If the first song ends and you aren't into it, then at least you gave it a shot.
8.9 Music Panzerfaust (1995) - Darkthrone (2025/12/13): I actually like the production on this quite a bit, I am always a fan of buried vocals. I have grown tired of overproduced music in most genres, but metal especially. This album has the appropriate level of production. Track 2 sounds like E1M1, although that Doom was first released right when this album was being recorded, so who knows. There were some surprising influences on this, I could clearly hear a Black Sabbath Doom inspired sound on some tracks and an 80s thrash inspiration on others, in addition to the obvious Black Metal influences.
6.04 Anime Steins;Gate 0 (2018) (2025/12/12): Glacial pacing. This does not expand on the story in any meaningful way. I would say skip this one.
9.05 Music Exmilitary (2011) - Death Grips (2025/12/11): Death Grips' weakest album is still better than a lot of other artists' best. They had not yet fully found their voice on this album, but they were about 75% of the way there. Featuring samples obtained at gunpoint and harsh almost metallic vocals, this album was like a nuke was dropped on my idea of what music was allowed to be. The samples, the diction, the vocal style, the production, everything about this absolutely broke the rules of what was acceptable in rap at the time, to the point that I am not even sure if it belongs in that genre. This is the only Death Grips release to not obtain NoSkip status, I can't stand the song I want it I need it.
8.29 Anime Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku (2000)) / Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman (2000) (2025/12/10): There were parts of this that I liked, that weren't in crybaby, but I won't describe them because of spoilers, but ultimately it feels like it lacks a conclusion. I would describe this movie as good but optional, just make sure you watch the first 2 OVAs and crybaby.
9.49 Anime Devilman: Youchou Sirene-hen (1990) / Devilman: The Demon Bird (1990) (2025/12/10): Everything in this one is an improvement from the first OVA, but holy shit this is dark. This is one of the nicest looking cel animations I have ever seen. The motion is smooth and consistent with no immersion breaking over-animation and no 70s style choppiness. It looks like it was mostly done on 2s and 3s. The coloring is nicely done and avoids the oversaturated, tacky look that a lot of cheaper cel animation had, which is notable because this is a home release. It still suffers from having such a short run time.
9.45 Music The Great Southern Trendkill (1996) - Pantera (2025/12/10): The guitar tone just sounds so shrill and hollow for a lot of the songs, they had to make up for that by cranking the absolute fuck out of the levels, instead of fixing the EQ. I usually don't complain about specific technical shit like this, but it is just so apparent that I can't leave it out. 14 people worked on this album and none of them said anything? ok. Ignoring the timbre of the guitar, this is actually some of dimebag's finest work, floods, 10s, Sandblasted skin, all some of the finest guitar work put to wax. The vocals on this are also world class, the (relatively) clean sections on 10s showcasing Anselmo's harmonic talents, and for the harsh vocal sections they have Seth Putnam of Anal Cunt fame doing guest vocals all throughout this album.
7.53 Anime Mushoku no Eiyuu: Betsu ni Skill Nanka Iranakatta n da ga (2025) / Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! (2025) (2025/12/10): Male audience romance under the guise of an isekai power fantasy. I almost dropped this one for being generic but it was better than initial impressions suggested.
9.5 Music I Have a Special Plan for This World (2000) - Current 93 (2025/12/09): An excellent drone/dark ambient/dark psychedelic release. Short enough that you can listen to the whole thing to decide if you like it or not.
8.51 Anime Devilman: Tanjou-hen (1987) / Devilman: The Birth (1987) (2025/12/09): The only downside is the pacing, if this was 45 minutes longer it would been much better off for it. It is worth watching this one just to get to The Demon Bird OVA alone.
9.03 Anime Serial Experiments Lain (1998) (2025/12/09): Quintessential techno-alienation. The strengths of this one are in the depth of emotions conveyed, not the literal plot.
9.4 Music Loveless (1991) - My Bloody Valentine (2025/12/08): The slow and deliberate vibrato makes this record feel like it's melting whenever you listen to it. It's an often imitated technique in this genre that few really nail the way this album does. the vocals are layered, buried, and unintelligible, which suits this release very well. The drums sound like a drum machine/triggered samples on some tracks and actual drums on others, probably the only thing I didn't like about this album was the drums on some songs.
6.9 Music Hell III (2012) - Hell (2025/12/07): An interesting release that fails to blend too many disparate influences. I was a fan of the clean melodic droning sections found throughout both songs, these parts reminded me a lot of the darker ambient sections from GSYBE. But the distorted tremolo picking sections and heavier doom parts just did not work together, it was like listening to bongripper covering a burzum song. The blending of these 2 styles comes across as contrived and the sound can only be described as incongruous.
4.8 Movies Butterfly Kisses (2018) (2025/12/07): A very ambitious premise that involves a meta documentary about a documentary about a documentary. The acting in this movie is straight out of an elementary school play. The timing, the delivery of lines, the look of the film, all of it is just terrible.
9.89 Music Dopethrone (2000) - Electric Wizard (2025/12/06): This release, like any good release does not adhere blindly to one genre. Equal parts Doom, Stoner and Drone metal, this release is loud, slow and heavy. The sound, the lyrics, every part of this is dreary, dark, foreboding and also really fucking cool. Not in some juvenile way like marilyn manson or whatever safe-edgy crap, this album comes across as genuinely nihilistic. The album cover is the devil taking a fat bong rip, and they meant that shit
4.0 Music Crack the Skye (2009) - Mastodon (2025/12/06): The strengths of the stoner genre are that it deprioritizes everything in favor of focusing almost exclusively on melody and timbre. This release takes some surface level cliches of what Stoner Metal sounds like, without understanding the deeper points about why it works in that context, and haphazardly tosses them into a progressive metal album, not a bad idea inherently, some of my favorite albums of all time do this. But in this case, the result is an album that would aspire to be considered mediocre, it's a parody of genuine artistic expression. Hang on a sec, did they just randomly start playing YYZ in the middle of their song? ok, I will bump this up half a point just for that.
9.01 Music Come to Daddy (1997) - Aphex Twin (2025/12/06): Even when he is trolling the audience, the album is still good. I love the chaotic contrast from track to track. This is less a coherent album and more just a collection of tracks, but they are all worth listening to.
8.71 Music Realms of Darkness (1995) - Syndicate (2025/12/05): Dark techno music with meth-psychosis induced beats, ear piercing abrasive noise and extremely long run time. Diverse utilization of genres in terms of samples and track composition. This release goes from Gabber to Breakcore to club techno to some indecipherable dark psychedelic IDM shit, sometimes on the same track. Did I mention the runtime? because holy shit is this long, coming in at over 100 minutes.
9.8 Games Spyro the Dragon (1998) (2025/12/05): The best of the 3D platformers. The controls hold up today, which is something that cannot be said for a lot of this game's contemporaries. The sound track for this game takes full advantage of the CD format to give each level a unique character. The color palette is alien, artificial and fantastical, something that even the later games fail to achieve. A must play, bucket list game.
4.6 Movies Troll Hunter (2010) (2025/12/04): This movie is bad, even by found footage standards. I think that the premise of having a found footage based on some medieval fairy tale is actually a good concept when executed properly. The problem is the formulaic execution. If you speak Norwegian you could probably follow this film while reading a book or doing something else, it is that predictable. I do not recommend watching this under any context.
9.3 Music Hypnotize (2005) - System of a Down (2025/12/03): This album is really part 2 of Mesmerize, nearly all of what I said about that album also applies to this one. This album has tracks like Holy Mountains and Soldier Side, System of a Down at their most poetic and somber. This album also has a lot of the irreverent tracks with surreal and comedic lyrics. Even with all of that, it still doesn't lose it's thrash metal roots.
9.81 Music Wish You Were Here (1975) - Pink Floyd (2025/12/03): This album is one of the darkest albums I have ever heard, the whole thing sounds like a funeral.
6.31 Music Steal This Album! (2002) - System of a Down (2025/12/03): System of a Down's foray into punk, that still retains their signature sound. This album sounds like a collection of rejected songs from other albums, as in they don't really connect with each other. Not that they need to, but that is something that all of their other releases have in common, so it stands out for that. Only about half of these songs are even worth listening to, 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 16. Your Welcome.
7.4 Manga Mahou Shoujo Oriko★Magica \ Puella Magi Oriko★Magica (2011) (2025/12/03): They took the Madoka storyline into an unhinged direction with this one. I won't say anymore than that because I don't want to spoil it. I would have preferred this more if it were longer as it's only 2 volumes, but I get that it's a budget thing or whatever. I can see why people would hate the artstyle in this, but I actually loved that 2000s look that it had going on. Visually, it was hard to discern which character was which in the monochrome manga format, and this makes following the dialogue very hard.
8.0 Movies 12 Angry Men (1957) (2025/12/02): A locked down, courtroom drama that is well acted. The story beats were somewhat predictable and the pacing was a bit too fast for the story. The runtime being only 90 minutes is what hurt this movie the most, maybe film was expensive in 1957, maybe they thought the audiences would lose interest if they fully fleshed out the concepts that were only hinted at. What I do know is that this movie would have been a lot stronger if it had been an hour longer. A solid movie, I would even say it's worth watching, but it is not a must see bucketlist movie like it is portrayed by some.
6.7 Music Fear Inoculum (2019) - Tool (2025/12/02): At the spry, young age of 100 their music just does not have the energy or effort put into it that it used to. I was wondering why they made an album that sounds like their heart is clearly not in it anymore, and the only thing I could think of was that one of the band members needed to pay for a kitchen remodeling. Pneuma just straight up sounds like that one Mom's Spaghetti Eminem song. The only positive and new aspect of this album is the track length, if a song is good I like to hear it breathe and have space.
9.15 Music Toxicity (2001) - System of a Down (2025/12/01): Their songwriting in terms of the structure of the song had definitely improved in the 3 years since their previous record. This record retains the extremely heavy Rick Rubin production, which people usually make fun of, but it works for this type of music. They tone down the chaos and punk song structure a little bit on this release, but I believe it was for the better in this case. This album is both fun and serious, sometimes on the same song. If this album had a movie equivalent it would be Starship Troopers, a critique of the US response to 9/11, that was made prior to 9/11.
8.6 Music Mezmerize (2005) - System of a Down (2025/12/01): The playfulness of the previous releases is still present throughout parts of this album, but there is a noticeable melancholic tinge with lyrics such as "my cock is much bigger than yours" and "choking chicks and sodomy". No, but seriously, this album does have this a lot more of this downer, dystopian feel that was expressed as anger on the earlier albums. This album is more relevant now, than when it released.
8.5 Music System of a Down (1998) - System of a Down (2025/12/01): If Suicidal Tendencies was produced by Rick Rubin this is what it would sound like. They came out of the womb swinging, this is definitely their heaviest and darkest release. They knew the sound they wanted from day 1, this album sounds as much like SOAD as any of their other releases. This album is as political and schizophrenic as the later work in their discography.

Yes I did do the HTML myself how could you tell?
